PYRITE

Overview:

Pyrite is the classic "Fool's Gold" as it is similar in color, shape and habit to Gold. It has a beautiful luster and interesting crystals and when faceted and polished it makes beautiful trimmings. Pyrite is a pale brass-yellow or golden-yellow color with a metallic luster.


Usage:

Pyrite is thought to be a very protective stone, helping to ward off negative vibrations on the physical and emotional levels. Pyrite is believed to promote the discovery of hidden talents and to be a useful stone for those who are indecisive. Influences a more positive outlook on life.



Pyrites, interestingly, can show negative resistance, acting as radio detectors and have been used in oscillator circuits. It increases physical stamina, stimulates the intellect and helps to transform thought into intelligent action.

Mexican Indians make beautiful pyrite mirrors, which like the mexican obsidian mirrors, were perhaps also used for scrying.

Illinois and Missouri, USA; Peru; Germany; Russia; Spain; and South Africa among many others. Apache, Cochise, Coconino, Gila, Graham, Greenlee, Mojave, Pima, Pinal, Santa Cruz, Yavapai, and Yuma County.
