Planetary Influences - March 2024

Mercury transits through the sign of Aquarius as March 2024 starts and then on the 6th it transits to the water sign of Pisces where it would be till the 25th . During this Mercury transit, we have Saturn in its own sign of Aquarius, the preceding sign of Pisces. And Pisces is also occupied by Ketu or the North Node of the Moon. And we have Jupiter in the adjacent sign of Aries as well.

With Mercury encompassed by Saturn and North Node on either side, there would be mixed signals around. Jupiter in Aries stands to inspire us during this Mercury transit period. This Mercury in Pisces period gives us a wider perspective of our future course of actions. However, it might not be that clear as Mercury is said to be debilitated in the sign of Pisces. Hence our communications and relationships might be messy and chaotic these transit days. Add to this the chaotic energy of Rahu which makes things further worse. Be patient enough and ready to forgive these days. We would be forced to rush through things in order to finish it quick, but take it slow for the days ahead.

In February, Venus met up with Mars in the sign of Capricorn. Now on the 6th of March, Venus transits to the sign of Aquarius following the transit of Mercury where it would stay till the end of March.

Aquarius is a friendly territory for Venus. Aquarius has Saturn, its own lord posited therein and Saturn is a good friend of Venus and hence this transit would be a favorable one. Venus transit brings about topics of beauty and love around. A time to celebrate the good things in life. A period when you can thank yourself for the patience and the hope you have and which helps you to survive the tough periods.

On the 10th of March, the luminaries Sun and Moon join together in the water sign of Aquarius at 27 degrees. During this New Moon, the planets Venus and Saturn are also posited in the sign of Aquarius. During this New Moon, the signs of Capricorn, Aquarius, Pisces and Aries, all four consecutive zodiac signs have all the major inner planets posited therein, hence look out for mixed signals.

This New Moon reminds us to stop and wait for a moment and decide on what or who is coming along with us in our journey forward. This New Moon brings about a tension between our strong beliefs we hold onto and our yearning for forward movement or growth. There would be a war for stability between these two entities. Do not throw out any assets or relationships for now, they might come in handy later on in life. This New Moon urges us to stay calm both in the physical and mental realm and wait for the world to move on.

The Sun traversing through the sign of Aquarius as March starts, transits to the adjacent sign of Pisces on the 14th of March and would be here till the 13th of April. The Sun is preparing itself for a pair of eclipses, with the first one being a partial penumbral eclipse on the 25th and then a total solar eclipse on the 8th of April. Hence it is going to be a stormy period for the Sun.

And on the 19th of March, we have the Vernal Equinox at 6 degrees of Pisces. With the Sun moving through the water sign of Pisces, we are asked to look into our future in a different perspective with a universal thought perhaps. If needed we might need to take a detour as well. This is a good time to check out if you need to stay put or keep going. At times you might even need to backtrack.

On the 15th of March, Mars shifts position from Saturn’s house of Capricorn where it was Exalted into Aquarius where it joins Saturn posited therein as well. Mars and Saturn generally do not get along well together, but they get practical things done for us. Mars would be in Aquarius till the 22nd of April. Venus is also transiting through the sign of Aquarius this time and hence would ease the tension between Mars and Saturn. During March, Mars passes by Saturn and this marks the strongest point of tension between these planets.

However, do note that Mars in Aquarius gets things done for us. We would be in our final stages of our projects, do not rush, stay patient. From Aquarius, Mars stands to aspect the signs of Taurus, Leo and Virgo by its 4th, 7th and 8th house aspects. If you have major placements in these signs, then you would feel renewed power or energy during this Mars transit period.

The New Moon of March starts to wax from the 10th and gets full at 11 degrees of Virgo on the 25th of March. The Sun would be at 11 degrees of Pisces and with both the luminaries near the Moon’s nodes we are in for a visual treat of a Penumbral Lunar Eclipse.

Generally Full Moons are strong and with it being part of an eclipse the effects would have more impact. The Moon in Virgo would be in opposition(180 deg) to the Sun, Rahu and Mercury in Pisces. With Spring in sight, we are asked to lay low and wait patiently for things to unfold. And Saturn and Mars would bring about a sense of stability around. This eclipse helps us to see things around in a new light. The eclipse wipes out our vision thoroughly and helps us to get a better perspective of our future.

Shortly after the Eclipse on the 25 th of March, Mercury moves from Pisces to Aries. Do note that Mercury is preparing for a retrograde phase that starts on the 1st of April when Mercury would once again enter the realms of Pisces on the 9th.

As March unwinds, the signs of Aquarius, Pisces, and Aries of the zodiac cycle seem to have lot of planetary activities. Aquarius is all about garnering our resources while Pisces denotes completion of our ventures and Aries give us the energy to push forward. Things around might get a bit tensed up with the completion of an eclipse and a retrograde in sight. Use the end of the month period to discipline yourself both mentally and physically, widen your perspective and wait for things to unfold naturally.
