New Moon in Sagittarius - January 2
The waning Moon of the New Year 2022 becomes New when the luminaries Sun and the Moon join together at 19 degrees of Sagittarius on the 2nd of January. Sagittarius is a fiery sign, and as the New Moon occurs it is free from any major aspects. However retrograde Venus would be in the adjacent house of Capricorn. This brings about the growth of new things that have been conceived earlier.
This New Moon is a good time to lay low and work on some ongoing ventures. It emphasizes creation and rejuvenation. A great opportunity to have a plan for the whole year ahead.
Sun in Capricorn - (January 14 – February 13)
The Sun in Sagittarius as the year starts shifts to the neighbouring house of Capricorn on the 14th of January 2022 and stays here for a month period till mid-February. In Capricorn, it gets the company of Saturn. Sun and Saturn are not good friends, hence the scene here would be quite complicated. Mercury also happens to be positioned in the house of Capricorn and would be preparing for a retrograde motion shortly.
The duo of Saturn and Sun is a potent combination, it indicates two opposing factors that needs negotiations at all points. There would be a huge clash between the personal ego of the Sun and the universal theme brought about Saturn. However the exact conjunction of the Sun and Saturn would occur during the first few days of February only. In the intermediate term there would be a war between personal interests and social responsibility. Be prepared to handle it effectively.
Mercury Retrograde in Capricorn - (January 14 – February 3)
Mercury transiting Capricorn starts its first retrograde phase for the year 2022 on the 14th of January. It goes back to the early degrees of Capricorn and then goes direct on the 3rd of February. Mercury in the company of Saturn and in the house of Capricorn is a friendly territory to behold. In fact, Mercury would stand as a mediator for all the collision that occurs between Sun and Saturn in Capricorn.
Capricorn is an earthy sign and all retrograde motions of Mercury for the year 2022 happen in earth signs. The other retrograde phases are due in May in the house of Taurus and then in September in the zodiac sign of Virgo.
As always, this Mercury retrograde period is a time to slow down, check our transactions and communications and be prepared for the worst. It is also a goodtime to redo things that do not seem to be going on well for now. Do not start any new ventures for now.
Mars Transits Sagittarius - (January 16 – February 26)
Mars transiting Scorpio moves over to Sagittarius on the 16th of January. When Mars was in Scorpio along with the Moon’s South node of Ketu there would have been some intense pressure on our lives. Mars would be quite comfortable now in Sagittarius, the realm of Jupiter the planet of expansion.
In Sagittarius, Mars gets the company of Venus, the planet of love. This duo together bring about some passionate moments around. This would be a great time to kick-start our creative works. However there might be some tough moments of either attraction or repulsion in relationships. Till March, Venus and Mars would be travelling together when they would be reaching the zodiac sign of Capricorn.
In Sagittarius, Mars would be all powerful. In Jupiter’s home, Mars can use its power and energy to the fullest. With Venus around, there seems to be enormous potential in creativity and relationships for now. And the signs of Pisces and Cancer would be receiving the aspects of Mars from Sagittarius as well for now.
Full Moon in Cancer - January 17
The waxing Moon of the New Year 2022 gets full when it enters the sign of Cancer, being its own home. Just opposite the Moon would be the other luminary, the Sun in Capricorn. Capricorn also currently hosts, Saturn its own ruler. Add to this the retrograding Mercury as well is posited in Capricorn and this might build up great tensions around.
This Full Moon creates a strong dynamic in the houses of Cancer and Capricorn and brings about periods of vulnerability and much pressure. Around this time, the Moon is the only planet that is occupying almost one half of the zodiac circle between the signs of Taurus and Sorpio. Starting from the full Moon period, do prepare yourself for the times ahead. Some slippery times are in store, plan and move accordingly.
Venus Direct in Sagittarius - January 29
Venus went retrograde during mid-December of 2021 in the sign of Sagittarius. While still in the same sign, it goes direct at 17 degrees on the 29th of January. Venus would continue with its direct motion in Sagittarius for about a month’s time after which on the 27th of February it exits to Capricorn.
Venus retrograding in Sagittarius for almost the whole of January would be teaching us some important life lessons. Areas ruled by creativity and relationships would be revised and revisited this period. Mid- January the entry of Mars would further strengthen Venus. This is a dynamic combination but blunders can also be made if not treaded carefully.
