Astro-meteorology studies how the planets, zodiac signs, magnetic angles, and the angularity that the planets make with each other affect the environmental conditions of the Earth. It helps us to understand what drives the weather, earthquakes, fierce storms, floods, droughts, deep freezes, hurricanes and volcanic activity, etc.

The ancient astronomers observed that when the planets in geocentric longitude moved through the various constellations or zodiacal signs, seismic activity occurred and weather patterns differed according to the influence of that particular sign.

Astro-meteorology is the only known science that is capable of predicting when and where natural disasters are likely to strike, weeks, months, even years in advance.

History of Astro-meteorology

Weather forecasting is probably the oldest of all sciences and has played a major part in human history. More than 4000 years ago, in Babylonia, weather phenomena were being associated with the planets by priests who calculated the positions of bodies in the sky and developed schemes of weather prediction.

During the Greek era of the first millennium B.C., more reliable predictive data were provided by the scientists of the time who based their predictions on experience and observation. Later, the Romans included weather signs in handbooks and almanacs prepared for farmers which are still followed in many countries around the globe.

Weather Horoscope

Half of the total influence of a weather horoscope should be judged from the 4th house cusp and planets therein, and their aspects. The 4th house governs the locale or home. One quarter of the total influence of weather charts should be judged from the first house, from its occupying planets and their aspects, from the sign on its cusp, and from the planet ruling the cusp sign, the sign it is in, and its aspects. One-eighth of the influence of a weather chart is judged from the planet for which the chart is erected. One-eighth of the influence on weather is to be judged by the planets in angular houses, their aspects, and the signs they occupy.

Rainbows in Astro-meteorology

Rainbow in the east will be in the evening and means rain is ceasing.

Rainbow in the west will be in the morning and means rain is coming.

Rainbow at lunchtime can mean sudden downpours.

Small broken rainbow pieces on a cloudy day mean stormy weather.

If a rainbow fades quickly, expect good weather soon.

A perfect rainbow after rain means good weather.

When a rainbow appears over water but it does not reach down to the water, expect clear weather.

If a rainbow can be seen from a great distance, expect clear weather.

If the rainbow disappears all at once, it means good weather coming.

Double or triple rainbows indicate fair weather only for the present, but more heavy rains soon.

Animals in Astro-meteorology

When animals get grumpy or confused, bad weather is often on the way.

When animals are settled, so is the weather.

When animals are panicking, an earthquake may be coming.

When animals sniff the air, roll over, scratch a lot on fences or call to each other, rain may be gathering.

Fish jumping often means bad weather the next day.

Dolphins often may be seen swimming towards storms.

Sheep kick the shearer the hardest just before bad weather.

Cattle, and stock reluctant to move may mean bad weather coming.

Astro-meteorology in Agriculture

Leafy vegetable crops that grow above ground should be planted during a new or waxing moon in Pisces, Taurus, Cancer or Scorpio. Trees and crops requiring longer than one year to produce should be planted during a full or waning moon in Taurus. Subsoil crops like potatoes, peanuts, carrots, etc should be planted under a waning moon.

Seeds that have a short or extra-long germination period should be sown two days before the new moon, up to 7 days later. During the first week of the Moon there is balanced growth of leaves and roots. In the second week, lunar gravity increases, and its light increases to a maximum. Leaf growth increases during that period. During the third week, both moonlight and lunar gravity decrease, and root growth is enhanced accordingly. Transplant at that time. In the fourth week, lunar gravity increases, and moonlight decreases. Both leaf and root growth decrease during this rest phase.

Flower seeds should be planted during the crescent moon unless seeds are desired; in that case, sow just before the Full Moon. Seeds planted under an Aquarian moon will rot or produce watery fruit. Cancer and Scorpio are fruitful signs which prompt germination and assure abundant yields. Leaf growth is greater when water signs are effective. Root growth is best in Earth signs. The Fire signs stimulate the rapid growth of seeds and fruit. Air signs promote the growth of lowers.

Prepare the soil, pull weeds, and fight pests during the new moon phase in a barren sign. Apply it at the new or half moon. Irrigate and feed plants when the moon is in a Water sign. Harvest under a full or waning moon in a barren sign. If timber is cut under the full Moon in Leo, it will last longer than wood cut at any other time, and it will not become worm-eaten. Trees planted under a waxing moon will produce more fruit, while trees planted during the dark phase of the moon will produce better quality fruit.
