Synastry overused

The Two Most Overused Synastry Aspects in Synastry

In life, we feel attracted to many people but settle down with one. Often the initial attraction does not last long as soon as we start interacting with people. The Sun and the Ascendant ruler are responsible for the initial attraction between two individuals. It is because they shape up the personality of an individual. However, as soon as two people began interacting, Moon, Mars, Venus, and other planets come into play. These other planets determine whether the attraction will last an eternity or a few days only.

Thus, if you feel tremendously attracted to someone, ask for their date of birth and head to an astrologer for your and their charts to be read. You can also read the charts yourself if you know the basics of synastry. However, beware that not all aspects are enough to indicate compatibility as they might appear to. We will discuss the two most overused synastry aspects in this article. These aspects appear to indicate the compatibility dynamics but do not do so. There are other more specific aspects for this purpose. The two most overused aspects in synastry are ‘planetary overlays to the seventh house’ and ‘contacts to the nodes.’

Planetary Overlays to the Seventh House

Synastry Aspects

The Seventh House is supposedly the house of marriage. We assume that if our love interest’s planets fall in our seventh house, they are our future partners. However, this is far from the truth. The seventh house does not indicate your future partner rather your projected ideals about your future partner. Also, although both the people feel these overlays to the seventh house, it is the person in whose seventh house planets of the other fall, who views the other as a potential future partner. For example, if your Venus falls in my seventh house, I might consider you an ideal person to marry and the perfect partner for me. You will be aware of my sentiments for you and will respond to them. However, your reaction, positive, negative, or kind of neutral will depend on my impact on your chart.

Perhaps let’s put my planets in your tenth house, the house of career, the eleventh house, the house of friends, and the third house, the house of communication. Other planetary contacts may reflect attraction, but overlays of these houses are of love and friendship but not of intimacy. Thus, you might view me as your friend who you relate to and interact with but not see me as a potential partner as I see you. Thus, the eleventh house does not always connote attraction and romance but friendship too. Hence, overlays to the seventh house are not always the aspects that indicate relationship compatibility between two individuals. For relationship compatibility to exist both people shall have the same impacts on each others' charts.

Contacts to the Nodes

The second most overused aspect in synastry is the contacts of the nodes. We often have South Node or North Node contacts with people who hold some significance in our lives. However, they don't need to be lovers only, they could be friends or family, who are there to stay forever. However, people assume that we have North and South contact nodes with lovers only.

If the South node contacts with one or more points like ASC, the relationship could be karmic. It could be some unfinished business from past life. However, even after the business finishes, people can still stay together depending on other aspects. They end when people grow out of the relationship and began holding each other back in their life journeys. However, relationships with North node contacts are more fulfilling and lasting. They are smoother and full of purpose. There are many contact nodes that people consider to signify intimate relationships, but this is not true.

For example, the Sun-Node contacts signify a deeper friendship between two individuals. They connote parenting roles. The Moon-Node contacts involve intense sentiments between two people. However, it cannot reflect a potential relationship because the emotional bond can also develop into a good friendship. Other aspects need to be studied to study whether an intimate relationship will develop or not. Similarly, with regards to Venus-Node contacts, people think it is intimate love but these node contacts can also exist between siblings or friends. Meanwhile, astrologers think that Saturn-Node contacts will separate two people, which is partly true because an immense level of Karma is involved, and both the individuals cannot sustain it.

Hence, these two overly used aspects in Synastry do not indicate compatibility or an intimate relationship and are not enough to analyze relationship possibilities. Many other aspects are more specific to indicate relationship possibilities.
