NEW MOON IN SCORPIO - DECEMBER 12
The Full Moon of November-end starts to wane as December sets in. Then the luminaries Sun and Moon join at 27 degrees of Scorpio on the 12 th of December to from the last and final New Moon for the year 2023. This New Moon day is vulnerable as always and it being in the intense and secretive sign of Scorpio,you would be digging deep inside to gather some courage and strength to swim against the tides for now.
Use this New Moon day to rest and relax yourself. Just get away with whatever has happened till now and gain strength to encounter the trials that are in front of you. Do note that this New Moon in Scorpio is encased between Venus in Libra on one side and by Mercury in Sagittarius on the other side. This is a good planet placement that helps with your connections and communications.
The New Moon would be aspected by Saturn from Aquarius and Rahu or the Moon’s North node from Pisces. Particularly the latter aspect would bring about some unexpected events to the fore. The aspect of Saturn would help to discipline us to make some tough choices along our path.
MERCURY RETROGRADE - ( DECEMBER 13 – JANUARY 1)
Mercury, the communicator ends the year 2023 by going retrograde. Mercury is in Sagittarius as December starts and on the 13 th , it turns retrograde which lasts till the 1 st of January, 2024. Sagittarius is a fire sign and Mercury herein would encourage us to start some learning process on a bigger perspective.
Mercury goes retrograde at 15 degrees of Sagittarius, and on the 27 th of December it goes back to Scorpio and then gets direct at 28 degrees of Scorpio.
Once Mercury turns direct it enters Sagittarius once again on the 7 th of January, 2024. This retrograde Mercury would be receiving the aspect of Jupiter which is again in retrograde mode. This is a good time to plan for a major learning program as the New Year starts.
SUN TRANSITS SAGITTARIUS - ( DECEMBER 16 – JANUARY 14)
The Sun transiting through the zodiac sign of Scorpio as December 2023 starts transits to the sign of Sagittarius on the 16 th of December. Here it would stay till the 14 th of January, 2024 when it shifts position to the sign of Capricorn for yet another one-month stint over there.
On the 21 st of December we have the Winter solstice when the Sun turns towards the northern direction. On this day, the Sun would be exactly at 6 degrees of Sagittarius. Winter Solstice is a day which is the shortest and darkest in the northern hemisphere.
The Sun’s change of direction from the South to the North can be taken as a reset button. A good time to retrospect on life and check out if you are on the right direction. The Sun in Sagittarius is aspected by Jupiter from Aries. This helps us in our forward tread and there is hope that this New Year would bring about some positive changes in our lives.
VENUS TRANSITS SCORPIO - ( DECEMBER 24 – JANUARY 18)
As December starts Venus is in Libra. With Jupiter in Aries, this would be a good time to try to find a balance in your relationships. Venus in Libra is a potent placement with it being in its own sign. You can plan for your future course of action and get rid of things or relationship that aren’t working for you well enough.
Venus, the planet of love moves from its own house of Libra to the sign of Scorpio which is a water sign and is the abode of Mars. This transit occurs on the 24 th of December and lasts till the 18 th of January 2024. Venus gets into the company of Mars in Scorpio for a brief period of say three days’ time. Venus in the sign of Scorpio pushes us towards action. A time that encourages us to dig deeper to reveal certain hidden secrets around.
FULL MOON IN GEMINI - DECEMBER 26
The New Moon of December starts to grow and on the 26 th of December gets Full at 11 degrees of Gemini while the Sun is in direct opposition to it at 11 degrees of Sagittarius. The lord of Gemini is Mercury and lord of Sagittarius is Jupiter and both these planets are retrograde during this Full Moon. A good time to focus on visiting some of your long-lost learning plans.
This is the last Full Moon for the year 2023 and as we end the year, it brings about some transitional energy around. This Full Moon nudges us to keep moving forward despite the hindrances around.
MARS TRANSITS SAGITTARIUS - ( DECEMBER 27 – FEBRUARY 5)
Venus joined Mars in Scorpio on the 24 th of December. On the 27 th , Mars transits from its sign to Sagittarius, the abode of Jupiter and would be here till the 5 th of February. Mars’ position in Scorpio for almost the whole of December is a very powerful transit as it is in its own house. It would be aspected by Saturn and Rahu as well. Mars in Scorpio brings about a steady but slow and stable forward movement. Mars in Scorpio is encompassed by Mercury and Venus on either side and hence would emphasis our creativity for the period. There would be some delays and hindrances though for our pursuits.
As Mars enters Sagittarius on the 27 th , the retrograding Mercury in Sagittarius moves over to Scorpio. Expect some frustrations around thanks to the retrograde energy of Mercury. This would be a good time to plan for your future moves rather than hitting the wall for now.
As Mars enters Sagittarius there is an exchange of signs with Mars in Sagittarius, the home of Jupiter and Jupiter in Aries, the abode of Mars. This is a positive influence around and helps us in our growth in life. An ideal time for some sort of refinement or so.
JUPITER DIRECT IN ARIES - DECEMBER 30
As year 2023 unwinds, retrograde Jupiter would finally turn direct at 12 degrees of Aries. Do note that Jupiter started its retrograde phase way back during the start of September.
With Jupiter in retrograde for most of December 2023 we would have experienced some hindrances in areas of growth and expansion, being ruled over by Jupiter. Now as Jupiter goes direct on the 30 th of December, be prepared for some positive development in life. Jupiter is strong in Aries and the fire signs of Aries, Leo and Sagittarius stand to reap the benefits of Jupiter transiting through Aries.
However, Saturn continues with its aspect on Jupiter in Aries and bring to play certain restrictive and disciplining energy around. Patience would be the key to survival for the period.
Add to this Jupiter is also in conjunction with Rahu or the Moon’s north node in Aries and this also restricts and frustrates us to some extent. Once direct, Jupiter gains speed and travels through Aries and then transits to the sign of Taurus on the 1 st of May, 2024. Then Jupiter would escape the aspects of Saturn.
The New year ahead promises some good growth and expansion thanks to the planet influences around for the first quarter of the year 2024.
