BosniaInitially Bosnia was one among the six federal units which also comprised Yugoslavia. After the independence of the country in 1992 a flag was used which was only replaced after the current flag of Bosnia which was adopted on Feb. 4, 1998.

These stars descend from the left to the right side of the flag along the triangle and are infinite in number representing Europe. Apart from this there are two half white stars one at the upper end and the other at the lower end of the descending line of stars. To the right of this descending line of stars lies a yellow isosceles triangle which indicates liberality. The nation of Bosnia comprises of three sets of people namely the Croats, Bosniaks and Serbs which is signified by the three points in the triangle. The triangle is also said to represent the shape of Bosnia for because of its heart shape it is also called as the heart shaped country.

Blue offers depth,stability, trust, loyalty, wisdom and truth. It is a calming color and is attributed to the sign of Taurus and of Pisces but for different reasons. Taurus for its stability, expertise and solidity and Pisces for its spirituality, purity, healing and relationship to water. The white colour is precise, critical, and sincere and in the Bosnia flag it is used as the symbol of purity. Yellow colour of the triangle signifies the intellectual and communicative nature of people of Bosnia. It is used to produce detachment and reduce depression. Yellow is considered as the most positive of colours and the closest to pure light. It also symbolizes the Sun. For years yellow ribbons were worn as a sign of hope as women waited from their men to come marching home from war. Today, they are still used to welcome home loved ones and denotes active, daring, passionate, and optimistic. It enhances alertness and encourages activity.
