CARNELIAN

Overview:

The name Carnelian, which is derived from Carne, Latin for flesh, may be related to its color, which is similar the color of flesh. Carnelian is frequently known as a stone of great spirituality. Carnelian is composed of Silicon Dioxide, Sio2, and gets its red color from Hematite impurities.

Carnelian was one of the most treasured stones of both the Greeks and Romans, who used it in signet rings and carvings.

Carnelian is a variety of chalcedony and is a micro-crystalline quartz.
