Eligibility
There are very institutes which offers genetic engineering as a direct program for it mostly streams up as a specializtion with biotechnology, microbiology and biochemistry. To be a qualified genetic engineer one must have a graduate or postgraduate degree or a doctorate (PhD) from a recognised university,in genetics or related fields such as biotechnology, molecular biology, microbiology or biochemistry .The eligibility criteria vary for different countries. Apart from academic qualification one must have a sharp analytical mind,an aptitude for research, high levels of concentration and eye for details to come up as a successfull genetic engineer.
