Indian Marriage (or) Matrimonial is predominantly a caste based match making done by the parents, The things looked at are;

1. Match by horoscope
2. Money (or) Job - available with the guy
3. Property - available with the guy
4. Jewels - available with the girl
5. Dowry - which the girl's parents is ready to give

all these factors when agreeable to the bride and groom's parents. The marriage is fixed.

Ultimately the to be married persons understanding between them is ignored.

But it still works... as you can see in 95% cases they live till together death.

I strongly believe dating is Asia is in practice in some other name (or) form.
However the marriage is done by the parents, thats the only difference
