The Planets The Sun, the Moon and the eight major planets of the Universe form the basis for all astrology-related studies and analysis. The energies of these planets affect our lives in many different ways. In ancient times only the seven planets-namely Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus, Mars, Jupiter and Saturn were used for astrology purposes. Only in the last few centuries man has discovered the three outer planets of Uranus, Neptune and Pluto and introduced them into his astrological studies. Planetary Groupings
The personal planets ,Sun, Moon, Mercury, Venus and Mars move swiftly around the zodiac. Sun and Moon have regular orbits with the Sun taking 30 days and Moon taking 28 days to go once round the zodiac. Mercury, Vneus and Mars have slightly longer and erratic orbits. The middle planets move much slowly than the personal planets with Jupiter taking one year and Saturn taking two and a half years to go round. Uranus, Neptune and Pluto move even more slowly. Uranus takes 7 years, Neptune 14 years and Pluto takes anything between 8 to 13 years time. Planetary Rulership
