"America"s Next Top Model" Crowns New Queen of the Runway
Tyra Banks revealed the winner of "America"s Next Top Model" Cycle 15 on Wednesday night -- was it blonde bombshell Chelsey or brunette beauty Ann? Read on for a spoiler-filled recap!
Although Chelsey impressed the judges with her commercial good looks, they found Ann"s look to be more editorial, and ultimately gave the title to 6"2" Dallas student Ann. A tearful Ann said she felt "honored" by the win and couldn"t even believe it, cherishing her win after suffering "comments about being too tall or being just not normal."
Chelsey, for her part, had no great love for the victor, saying bitterly, "I feel cheated, I feel I have the whole package… and I don"t think Ann does." Earlier in the episode, the ladies battled it out in a photoshoot in the Italian countryside, as well as a Cover Girl commercial and beauty shoot. Before they took the stage for a Roberto Cavalli Just Cavalli runway show in Milan, the women reflected on the competition. Chelsey proclaimed, "I"m inches away from being "America"s Next Top Model." I can"t imagine not winning." Meanwhile, Ann pondered, "If I win "America"s Next Top Model," I hope I can inspire everyone who"s been picked on."
The judges critiqued their runway walks, and neither escaped unscathed. Judge Nigel Barker said Chelsey"s walk was "a tad fast and a little stiff," while judge Andre Leon Talley said of Chelsey, "No snap, no crackle, and no pop." Tyra said that Ann"s eyes were "a little zombie" while she walked the runway and Andre said he would rate her a B-.
But in the end, despite Chelsey"s certainty that she would win, it was the more demure Ann who walked away with the prizes: a contract with IMG models, a cover and spread in Beauty in Vogue, a spread in Italian Vogue and a feature on Vogue.IT, and a $100,000 contract with Cover Girl cosmetics.
