The 22nd edition of the international "Best Model of the World" has ended in Bulgaria’s capital Sofia, with the winners coming from Mali and Turkey.

At a gala performance and awards ceremony, Aicka Dicko won the female category, while the male winner was Erkan Meric.

In other awards, Diana Ivancheva (Bulgaria) and Florian Alfano (Monaco) carried off the first places for female and male Best Photo Model of the World 2009.

The Gala ceremony, held at the National Palace of Culture, opened with an address by Yordanka Fandakova, patron of the Best Model of the World 2009, and Mayor of Sofia.

The star of Bulgarian pop music Lili Ivanova was a special guest performer on the show. She said that she was extremely honored to sing at such a prestigious event where the world would be watching Bulgaria directly on television.

Miro, who will represent Bulgaria in the Eurovision Song Contest 2010, sang his newest song, called "Kill me with love."

Sibel Tyuzyun, who was Turkey"s representative at Eurovision 2006, and ethnic group Vakali complemented the Balkan color at the spectacular ceremony with their musical and dance performances.
