Meningtis tot is signed as model
A GIRL who fought back after losing her hands and toe tips to meningitis has been signed up as a model. Pretty Tilly Lockey, four, was nearly killed by the brain bug. Sun readers were touched by the story of her return to health - and the later campaign for funds to buy prosthetic limbs. Agency Tyne Tees Models spotted her winning charm and cute looks and approached mum and dad Sarah and Adam, both 30.
The modelling fees will help fund, and modify, Tilly"s future state-of-the-art limbs which operate by sensors attached to her elbows picking up her muscle movements. Sarah, of Tow Low, Co. Durham, said: "Tilly"s used to cameras taking her picture because of our fundraising and she"s always seemed so comfortable in front of them.
"We"ve raised nearly £250,000. But Tilly will need three times this amount if she"s to benefit from the best prosthetic hands into adulthood. If she can contribute by doing something she enjoys then that"s fantastic." Lesley Lister, head of Tyne Tees Models, said: "Tilly is a unique little lady with bags of personality. I believe she"ll make many clients proud as the face of their campaigns. "She"s an amazing role model to young children and an inspiration to us all."
