Onsted teens in modeling competition
TOLEDO, Ohio —Two Lenawee County teens could be strutting their stuff for fashion photographers if they win an online vote. Gordon Crane and Hannah Nighswander, both 17 and students at Onsted High School, have entered the Runway Rivalry contest, part of the EPIC Rocks Fashion show. They have made it to the top 20, after being among the more than 200 contestants when the contest started.
Crane and Nighswander have a chance to win cash prizes and the opportunity to travel to Miami with all expenses paid to meet with influential modeling agencies. They will also hit the runway in the Grand Aire Hanger at Toledo Express Airport on Sept. 25 for the EPIC Rocks Fashion Show 2010.
Crane and Nighswander need the public’s help to win the contest. Votes can be cast daily at www.runwayrivalry.com until Aug. 8. Contest organizers say judges will choose two winners, one male and one female, and the website vote will choose another male and female winner. Those four winners will be announced at the Northwest Ohio Rib-off on Aug. 13.
Crane and Nighswander have been taking acting and modeling classes at SB Entertainment Group in Toledo with owner Wendi Davis. Crane is the son of Craig and Krissie Barnes of Onsted and Todd Crane of Manitou Beach. His grandparents are Gordon and Penny Crane of Manitou Beach, Chuck and Connie Barnes of Brooklyn and Mary Clark of Hillsdale. He is an avid outdoorsman and will be on the varsity football team this fall for the Onsted Wildcats.
Nighswander is the daughter of Scott and Candy Nighswander of Onsted. Her grandparents are Allen and Jan Nighswander of Deerfield; Sally Hazen, formerly of Onsted; and David and Karen Johnson of Durand. Hannah enjoys modeling and has done a couple of runway shows, including the 2009 EPIC Rocks fashion show. She has been a dancer for the past 11 years with The Dance Center of Adrian and Onsted.
EPIC (Engaging People, Inspiring Change) Rocks Fashion will feature a blend of multimedia, local retailers, fashion designers and live music in a nightclub setting. Professional models will strut the “Ultimate Runway” featuring the latest styles and trends in fashion.
