1.ABTA, the travel association, wants us to write to our MPs to stop the Government piling huge taxes on long haul flights. The new Government has already outlined plans to reform Air Passenger Duty (APD) and to replace it with a per-plane duty (PPD), which makes more sense environmentally. But ABTA is worried the new tax might be so high it will price average travellers out of foreign holidays.
2.FLYBE has launched its month-long on-board charity push to raise funds Cancer Research UK. Last year, passengers raised more than £100,000 during the campaign and another £5,500 on World Cancer Day this February.Flybe"s Mike Rutter says: "The logistics in organising on-board collections on 13,242 flights for a whole month is a huge undertaking. We hope to beat last year"s impressive figures."
