(OPENPRESS) June 3, 2010 -- The idea for the "Model on Model" photo-shoot was conceived when the international plus models, Jenny Dettner and Erika Demmer, contacted Madison Plus from Germany about doing a photo shoot together. The Madison Plus team pitched the idea to the agents at Wilhelmina models who recommended plus models, Becca Thorpe and Philippa Allam, to be the photographer and stylist.
Becca has worked as a plus model with numerous retailers such as; Lands End, Macy’s, Lane Bryant, and the Avenue and has adopted a photographer’s eye from all of her work in front of the camera. Philippa has also modeled for major retailers such as; H&M, Levi’s, Liz Claiborne, and Glamour magazine. Philippa has become known for her amazing sense of style and skill for putting together a jaw-dropping outfit which led her into styling. With the two professional models behind the camera coaching the fresh faces we created a shoot inspired by New York City; the City Street Blues.
The City Street Blues was the product of months of hard work and creation from Madison Plus working with Wilhemenia Models across town and across sea. City Street Blues is based on Jenny and Erika’s personal story. Two models with one unifying America dream of coming to New York to make it as plus models in the big city.
The shoot took place in a quintessential New York City local; the lower east side. A place that is gritty, yet glamorous, which epitomizes the dichotomy that is New York. Denim was chosen as the styling theme as it is an iconic American fashion staple and a perfect match with Jenny and Erika’s American dream.
After the completion of this first ever “Model on Model” shoot, Erika and Jenny’s American dream was realized. Both models landed contracts with Wilhelmina’s W Curve division.
