Temple History:

Maharishi Mangalya, born in Uthiram star, was the Acharya in the marriage of Sage Agasthya and Sage Vsishta and Bhairava. The whole power of his penance was in his fore palms. He is the authority for all Akshada (rice coated with turmeric being sprayed on couples and while blessing others) angels flying in the air with garlands. During the marriage events, it is believed that the Rishi prays for the parties in this temple invisibly. Also, the choice of Panguni Uthiram day for marriages is backed by this story.

Greatness of Temple:

This is the choice temple for the Uthiram star natives. They must take opportunities to visit and pray in the temple at least on their annual star day. Those having problems in feet, the aged longing to join their sons again in life who once drove them away and women seeking longevity of their husbands choose this temple to realize their wishes.
