CELESTITE

Overview: The name is derived from the latin word "Caelestis" which means heavenly. It is a fairly common mineral which was first said to have been found in Italy in the 1700's. Celestite consists of strontium sulphate in an orthorhombic crystalline form, a source of strontium compounds.
